WordPress Woes

Hmm, for some really weird reason, whenever I try to log in as the admin on this blog (not the other ones) in Firefox, it gives me a “Wrong username” error. And yet I can log in on Internet Explorer. That’s sad (and wrong :)). It may just be a bug in this particular version of WordPress (2.0.2). I reset the password, but to no avail. There was one moment where I actually did log in, but when I tried it again, the error returned. ~sigh~ I also deleted the wp-content/cache directory, again without result. There’s a thread on the WordPress forum about this, but without any resolution.

Starting to use Rails

Now that I have SSH enabled on my server (I use Bluehost, by the way, and they’re awesome — and they just upgraded our accounts to 15 gigs instead of 10 :)), I can finally start developing for Ruby on Rails. Mmm. I picked up the second edition of the PickAxe book from the library and have been reading through it. Blocks are pretty darn cool. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been reading up on Python, and I’m pleased to find that most of the cool things that I like about Python are in Ruby.

So the next step is to get Subversion up on my server (I tried to do this once before and failed, but I’ll give it another go) and read How to Use Rails With Subversion.

Welcome

Digital Bridge used to be my computer blog, but I didn’t like the name very much, so I’ve created this blog instead. I’ll mostly be writing about programming (Ruby on Rails, Python, Lisp, Getting Real, etc.), Web2.0 (Ajax, etc.), and other geek stuff (Macs, vi, usability, and more). And posts like this are boring (or at least this one is), so The End.

Wait. I may as well explain the name here. It’s pretty self-evident: think outside the box. Be creative. Innovate. Coding is art. Ugliness is bad. There’s a wide frontier of possibilities out there.
